Honeywell and Sapa Placencia to Collaborate on Electric Power Generation

Honeywell and Sapa Placencia to Collaborate on Electric Power Generation

PHOENIX, March 30, 2022 – Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) and SAPA Placencia, a major electric power solution provider and world leader in heavy vehicle transmissions, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate in the development of enhanced electric power generation for military land vehicles. The military land vehicles of tomorrow will require greater electrical power due to their increased complexity. Compared with existing vehicles, they will be equipped with far more sensors, communications hardware, and information systems in support of advanced mission operations, all requiring greater electric power to operate. “The MOU will allow Honeywell and SAPA Placencia to eventually offer unprecedented levels of power generation efficiency,” said John Guasto, vice president, defense and space international, Honeywell Aerospace. “We’re meeting the increasing demand from government and military customers for electric power solutions that provide fuel efficiencies with a reduced weight and higher power density. This greatly improves the performance and functionality of their military land vehicles.” "This important agreement allows SAPA to contribute our expertise in the development of electric power solutions for military land vehicles,” said Ibon Aperribay, CEO of SAPA Placencia. “We are also excited to be part of such a fundamental innovation for the future of the industry, alongside a major company such as Honeywell." Under the terms of the MOU, Honeywell and SAPA Placencia will discuss ways to work together and offer a compact, reliable, lightweight, and highly efficient integrated electric power solution with double the power capacity than what is currently equipped on similar vehicles. This power generation upgrade will ensure new military land vehicles have the power to successfully operate on the connected battlefields of today and tomorrow. Honeywell provides a wide array of electrical power generation and distribution systems. It’s a leader in power-on-demand solutions for both military and commercial platforms across all domains — sea, air, land, and space.
